Document 1

People invest effort and time in special education programs that they can improve their reading skills and abilities. Most of the school children have a problem in trying to read at a faster rate. Speed helps in word recognition skill and sight word reading skill. The sight word reading skill helps in the development of decoding skills in school children. Sight word reading skill speeds up the decoding process in school children. Increase in spelling and reading skills both in writing and orally enables the children to comprehend and express themselves in academic contexts. Speed of processing leads to the development of expressive and receptive skills. Most of the children have a problem in writing skills, reading comprehension, reading fluency and the cognitive processes that is helpful in the development of reading skills.

Speed is an important factor that enables the development of word-based reading skills such as decoding, word recognition and phonological awareness that form part of the central processing. Complex processes form part of the acquisition of literacy skills and language. Therefore this is connected in noticing and detecting basic sounds and blends of the sound. These sounds are the ones that make words and are known as phonemes. Another underlying ability is understanding the meaning of the words. As you understand what a word means it will bring efficiency in reading. So, detecting sounds and of the words and understanding the meaning of the words, are the great abilities that underlie decoding (Tunmer et al. These different types of environments are the cause of different abilities in children. Language is another factor to consider, different languages tend to have a different approach to decoding.

It does not only count to the ability of the child to read but also, the speed of the children in decoding those words ( Tunmer et al. On the other hand, when it comes to language comprehension, these great underlying abilities can also be measured by basically accessing the ability of the child to analyze and understand phrases. This might differ from one child to another. b. Discuss two tasks that may be used to test morphological awareness.   Morphological decomposition and morphological relatedness are tasks that can be used to measure morphological awareness. In morphological decomposition task, morphological awareness is tested through the oral presentation of children with derived words and foil words. Example of a derived word is lucky and example of foil word is a treaty.   Morphological awareness contributes to vocabulary acquisition.

Morphological awareness is vital in enhancing the decoding of complex words. To improve vocabulary acquisition, students should learn how words are pronounced. Acquisition of new words improve the vocabulary of students. Morphological awareness helps the children to understand the meaning of words and learn new words which build their vocabulary. As we deal with every situation in life we tend to copy the behaviors of people such as moral quality and attractiveness. Linguistic models provide examples of what should be done in such situations. Linguistic models have different meanings. Models in linguistics have certain methods that provide students with models of imitation that enables them to attain ordinary pronunciation. Linguistic models increase the effectiveness of using reading models for learning. Linguistic models should be used in teaching and learning since they help to build the brain capacity and the ability to improve the language models (Joshi et al pg.
