The two major forms of classifying education are: formal and non-formal education. Both these forms involve being taught and following instructions. The history of education goes all the way back to when grown-ups in the community trained younger people to gain skills and knowledge necessary for coexisting in the society (Albert). The main forms of delivery were oral instructions and imitations. This was an effective way of teaching because the learners would easily learn from practical examples. The evolution of education has seen adoption of technology as one of the milestones in teaching and learning processes. Technology has brought with it many advantages that education on its own would not have achieved for a long time to come. However, e-learning allows both parties the flexibility of time and location. This form of education allows learning to take place without much restrictions on resources such as time and location. It is fun: e-learning makes learning more interactive and fun. The use of multimedia and other technological modes of education allows learners to interact more with their trainers. Research has been made easier through the availability of the internet (Vacca). New knowledge is all over the internet. Additionally, more people are able to acquire knowledge without having to access books. e-learning has generally increased the level of intelligence in more people over the years. With the emerging trends in hacking and spoofing, data is more easily accessible without authorization than in the past. This has led to the increase in the number of security measures needed in place to safeguard the data. In turn the costs of such measures are proving to be a burden to companies and individuals. Also, e-learning evolution has led to increase in complexity of its nature. Generally, all inventions carry pros and cons with them.
