This includes the required skills and the techniques of motivation that can be used to enhance team performance within the department. The other central concern would be that of hiring new staff, in line with the cost dynamics. Since the hotel is advanced to a four star, there is the obvious need for more employees. This does not only stop at this, but other employees need to be hired on temporary basis too, to bridge the existing gaps that may be available. In this case, the hotel predicted an increase of 60 % in trade as a result of the convention Centre that was coming up. In this case, the need to understand German culture is very crucial in their effectiveness in service experience. Change management is another important aspect in the new four star hotel. Since there are a lot of adjustments that come with the refurbishment, such as the need to change the shifts to cover 24 hours, the staff should be educated on the need for change, and how to handle it.

In conclusion, there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed when it comes to refurbishments and changes that they attract in the long run. Therefore, the supervisor should be very sensitive in picking up issues that really matter in such instances. Theory X it is grounded on the premise that people dislike work naturally, as such they need some kind of micro management to do well (Northouse 2018). In this kind of leadership, the supervisor is likely to embrace authoritative leadership style. On the other hand, theory Y presumes employees to be self-motivated, and very willing to work. In this kind of leadership, the leader is likely to embrace the participative approach. It is therefore important for the supervisor to understand the staff, and accord the appropriate leadership style.

This can emanate from the client’s side, or even from within. Supervisors are core in harnessing the best out of the employees, and as a result, they need to be key to the tiniest details. Good interpersonal skills are important in every sphere of interaction. Supervisors are so in touch and very close with the employees. This calls for good relationship building, creating a friendly environment at work. Every employee needs to be motivated in order for enhance their job satisfaction. Cases of lack of morale, absenteeism and poor performance have closely been tied to lack of motivation. In order to avoid related undesirable instances, managers should understand the source of motivation for an employee, whether internal or external, so as to meet their needs.

A positive work environment is important in every workplace. It should be in the interest of every employer to ensure that the employees work in a conducive environment, as this leads to higher productivity. Incentives differ as they can take both the financial or non-financial aspects. The supervisor should also be focused on ensuring there is clarity of goals in an effort to implement the change (Evans 2015). People should be very conscious of what to thrive for, and the direction they are taking. In this way, they are aware of where to channel their efforts, to realize the set objectives. The work ethics and norms should be defined accordingly, with a defined progression plan. This is very important in the second stage of the model, where the actual implementation is required.
