From Evelin Melendez’s perspective on the meaning of gender, she thought of gender being either male or female. This must have been because of the duties that she was entitled to just from the childhood that the opposite sex could not attend to. Similarly, it must have been because, at her childhood, she was not affected in any way because according to her she considers herself to be a female who happens to be a feminist something that has brought a lot of impact to her life. From the perspective of attending to duties concerning gender roles, women should take the responsibility of doing home chores such as washing dishes, mopping the house, cooking or doing the laundry. This prepares a woman to become an admirable wife at the time of marriage.

Most of the decisions made by men always go hand in hand with the responsibilities that are entitled to them in that with obligations; there are some different decisions that come with them. This does not exclude females out because they as well take the responsibility of instructing their children in the right direction to follow as this counts in the future. Males in addition to making decisions, they are given the tile of being the head of the family and should be seen as bosses with women to be submissive. A living arrangement in women is quite often, and this has been used in Melendez’s reactions on giving what she went through while was at home. This was because of some duties and behaviors that she was not expected to do with the strict father because she was a female.
